Sandton Gets Set for a New Era: Construction Begins on Phase 2 of the Sandton Gate Precinct

Move over, cranes of Sandton, there’s a new kid on the block. Construction for Phase 2 of the ambitious Sandton Gate development officially began on April 2nd, ushering in a new chapter for Johannesburg’s business and lifestyle scene.

This exciting development follows hot on the heels of the successful completion of Phase 1 in 2020, which delivered a vibrant mix of office space, luxury apartments, and a state-of-the-art gym. Phase 2 promises to amplify the vision of Sandton Gate as a fully integrated live-work-play precinct, according to developers Abland & Tiber.

“We’re not just building structures; we’re crafting experiences,” says project director David Jones. This philosophy is evident in the plans for Phase 2, which will see the construction of 10,000sqm of prime commercial office space and a sprawling retail haven encompassing a massive 12,000sqm.

The new retail component is strategically designed to cater to the needs of both residents and office workers within the precinct, offering a curated selection of shops, restaurants, and entertainment options. Imagine grabbing a coffee on your way to a morning meeting or unwinding after work with colleagues at a trendy new bar – all within easy walking distance.

Sustainability remains a core focus for Sandton Gate. The development boasts a 5-Star Green Star rating, and Phase 2 promises to continue this commitment to eco-friendly practices. Natural features will be incorporated throughout the precinct, with plans to revitalize the Braamfontein Spruit riverbank, creating a picturesque green lung for residents and office workers to enjoy.

“Sandton Gate stands ready to usher in a new era of urban living and working, where convenience meets connectivity, and sustainability meets sophistication,” says Jones. With construction targeted for completion by late 2025, Sandton Gate Phase 2 is poised to become a landmark destination, transforming Johannesburg’s skyline and the way we experience urban life.
