A groundbreaking collaboration between the University of Nottingham (UoN) and Stellenbosch University (SU) is set to revolutionize rural road construction in South Africa. South Africa’s vast network of rural roads, which accounts for nearly 80% of the country’s total road infrastructure, faces significant challenges due to limited resources and maintenance. “The main objective is to enable the development of rural infrastructure using technological innovation to overcome local barriers and enable social mobility,” said Dr. Anand Sreeram, a transport engineering assistant professor at UoN.
